WLP Course - Overview of the general framework

The WLP Course is based on four Learning Areas:

Learning Area 1: Partnership creation and use of basic analyses

Learning Area 2: Planning of partnership-based learning arrangements

Learning Area 3: Support for partnership-based learning activities

Learning Area 4: Making use of web services and web platforms

Below each of of these is characterised briefly. A more detailed presentation is given in the document "WLP Course - Learning Areas and learning tasks".

Learning Area 1: Partnership creation and use of basic analyses

Aims and objectives

  • To promote awareness of different partnership concepts;
  • To promote capability to work with preparatory analyses.

Structure and contents

  • The basic levels bring into discussion the key problems of creating partnerships and raise questions on the benefits of partnership cooperation.
  • The advanced levels introduce the WLP tools and challenge the learners to develop a strategic map on possibilities to develop workplace learning partnerships.

Expected learning gains

  • At the basic levels: Overview on partnership concepts and insights into specific contexts of partnership cooperation.
  • At the advanced levels: Mastery of WLP tools and capability to use them in partnership creation processes.

Learning Area 2: Planning of partnership-based learning arrangements

Aims and objectives

  • To promote pedagogic planning within partnership cooperation;
  • To promote pedagogic support for individual and/or organisational learning activities.

Structure and contents

  • The basic levels bring into discussion the key problems in pedagogic planning of workplace learning and raise questions on the benefits of related support tools.
  • The advanced levels deepen the discussion on integrated working and learning tasks (or networked learning arrangements) and challenge the learners to develop a related strategic map.

Expected learning gains

  • At the basic levels: insights into planning principles and into pedagogic support for individual/ organisational learning
  • At the advanced levels: ability to profile and customise partnership-based learning arrangements.

Learning Area 3: Support for partnership-based learning activities

Aims and objectives

  • To promote capability to work with portfolios and collaborative learning environments;
  • To promote awareness of converging developments.

Structure and contents

  • The basic levels bring into discussion the perspective of working with learners' portfolios and collaborative learning environments.
  • The advanced levels deepen the familiarisation with learners' portfolios and collaborative learning environments and challenge the learners to develop a related strategic map.

Expected learning gains

  • At the basic levels: insights into parallel developments related to the said instruments;
  • At the advanced levels: ability to develop local strategies for working with portfolios and collaborative learning designs.

Learning Area 4: Making use of web services and web platforms

Aims and objectives

  • To promote capability to use web services (del.icio.us; wiki) to support workplace learning;
  • To promote the capability to use web platforms (Moodle, ELGG).

Structure and contents

  • The basic levels bring into discussion thperspective of working with web services (e.g. del.icio.us and wiki) and web platforms (e.g. Moodle and ELGG).
  • The advanced levels deepen the familiarisation with web services and web platforms and challenge the learners to become active users.

Expected learning gains

  • At the basic levels: overview on web services and on the potential of web platforms;
  • At the advanced levels: ability to make use of web services and to link partnership cooperation to relevant web platforms.
