Quick Response - learning with customers

Fashion dye company - learning with customers how to respond to need for innovation and quick response
Value of Quick Response: customers are seen as joint partners in workplace learning and development; advances in relation to sourcing logistics

This company makes fashion dyes which it adds to unbleached (ecru) clothing of all types. The managing director states that he sees his customers as joint partners in the company’s success. The company works closely with its major customers to develop new products and processes and to improve efficiency. The company needs to be able to deal with a wide range of types of products and sizes of order, and has invested in a variety of machinery to enable it to do this. This enables the company to respond quickly to their customers’ needs. This is important because it means that their customers can wait to see which colour of garments are selling well before ordering more of them from the company, meaning that the customers are not left with large quantities of garments in unpopular colours. This simplifies the customers’ sourcing processes as they only have to buy and stock yarn and fabric in ecru, rather than in a range of colours.
