Key messages

The analyses of workplace learning undertaken by Estonian research partners focus on cooperation between key enterprises and regional vocational schools in the Southern Estonia. These analyses make transparent major obstacles to cooperation and related challenges. These issues and related developments in other countries have been brought to discussion in the regional WLP workshop in Tartu.

It containes information on the metalworking and engineering sector backgound (Chapters I and II), activities of the WLP project and development of the sector in Estonia during 2004-2006 (Chapter III), conclusions of the case-studies (Chapter IV), and dissemination activities (Chapter V). The last chapter includes main findings and suggestions.

The INNOVE project ÕPIPOISS

The INNOVE project ÕPIPOISS aims to introduce to workers from enterprises that used to train apprentices some basics of pedagogics. The curricula contains 80 hours of subjects concerning psychology, mentoring, communication skills and different aspects of learning processes. The other aim is to create stronger partnerships between schools and enterprises through the large amount of professional trainings that are proposed for free within the project.

INNOMET II project

The INNOMET II project supports development of metalworking and engineering industries only. Within this project a database of all the available trainings in this area was created.

Project partnership in enterprises

The Project partnership in enterprises' main objective was to promote social dialog at enterprise level by exchanging experiences and best practices on different forms and methods of involvement of employees. As well the objective of the project was to raise the awareness of employers and employees representatives about European directives and Estonian regulations concerning the information and consultation of employees and involvement of employees. To achieve the objectives of the project the research and information campaign was carried out, as well the conference and companies internal trainings took place and the report of research was published.
