This is an immediate response from the middle of the WLP session discussing the web-based tools and their utilisation in the WLP project. It appears that we are heading towards a discussion that will progress at three levels:
a) the tools and instruments that help individual learners to present their own learning ("Backpack"),
b) the tools and instruments that help training providers and enterprises to negotiate the arrangements that are needed to promote workplace learning ("Interface") and
c) the tools and instruments that help us to aggregate the core characteristics of competences in European and transnational contexts ("Aggregation").
We will follow this up via blogging.

In addition to the first question | Discussion Topic | 0 replies | 27-January-2006 | Олеся Быкова |
The PoFo tool could be supplied with questions that should help the learner to look at his experience and knowledge from different points of view. These questions should be helpful to make a person think.

In the immediate, it is urgent for us (Italy) to have the first to points . a, b:
point a) - the whole process is user and company centred. The tool is a must to promote "motivation". Learning is negotiated ( in most case ) and driven by the HRD departments .
point b) - we need these tools to have companies negotiating "partnership".
point c ) - becuse of languages barrier.. I can se more difficult to achieve results. But, may be we need more details on how it will be developped. Any good idea?
Regards..

I think that BP of an individual learner could be done in a form of a table with the following columns:
Skills – for how many years a person have been using these skills – where he/she acquired these skills. Some different table could be dedicated to the questions if the learner recognizes some white spots in his education, trainings. What skills would he like to acquire.

Backpack idea | Discussion Topic | 1 reply | 27-January-2006 | Alan Brown |
Perhaps the backpack idea should allow people to present their 'top 15' competences and/or achievements
Perhaps the backpack idea should allow people to present their 'top 15' competences and/or achievements at a level of aggregation that helps them draw together examples of their achievements and experiences that can be used, when appropriate, when they are seeking progression in employment, education or training, Alan |
